Club Discussion by the membership
Beth Leconte Spoke about the diaper donation program, Beth will be accepting checks made out to her and she will then purchase diapers which will then be donated to local charities. Depending on the quantity purchased, they will go to Domestic Violence, Jonnycake, and Thundermist.
Steve White asked about the disbursement from the Wakefield Charitable Foundation, and also suggested that our club could look at investing in the stock market while the market is down.
Bob Horrocks asked if the Wakefield Rotary Club Foundation could make payments to a PayPal account for an international charity donation.
Dick Pike asked about the scholarship money that has been promised to students, Lori Horton said that Karen Bertram has an accounting of all payments to the students and for what amount.
Sandra Cutting discussed the June Art Festival, as to reschedule it, cancel it, refund the payments, roll payments to next year, or ask for a donation from the artists towards the scholarship fund. Sandra will make a decision May 1, 2020.
Ed McLaughlin suggested that the Art Festival be canceled and not rescheduled as the Veterans park is usually booked for the entire summer.
Dr Chris Van Hemelrijck discussed the Wakefield Charitable Foundation, which has approved funds for the club’s charitable committee requests. In addition the trust had approved the creation and printing of a brochure, and Dennis McLeavey has created a Facebook page for the Wakefield Rotary Club Charitable Foundation.
Linda Hennessey proposed that club members donate the $20.00 that they would have spent on lunch to the club, and the money be sent to local charities.
