PROGRAM
Speaker and Program: District Governor Dr. Billy Roberts, introduced by Assistant Governor Bob Cruz

District Governor Billy opened by contributing 5 happy bucks for his warm welcome to our club. He welcomed Dick Pike back to the fold and presented our newest members Margaret Johnson and Joanne Daly with pins from his club, Barnstable Sunrise. He also gave his business card and a souvenir key ring to every member present.

Billy praised the Wakefield Rotary Club for our contributions to District 7950 and asked us how we can share our good work with more people. He reminded us that the Rotary International President Shakir Mehta says that we serve to change lives, including not just the lives of others but our own as well. He congratulated us for diversifying the membership and urged us to do more outreach, especially with the Narragansett people.

Reflecting on our club activities, Billy advised us not to dwell on the loss of past projects but to look to the future. He suggested projects that focus on empowerment of women and girls, initiatives for diversity, equity, and inclusion, and working with international groups. He suggested that we consider working with Rotary affinity groups, such as public safety personnel and educators, to come up with new ideas for service.

District Governor Billy Roberts ended his talk by noting that we should nurture our club’s legacy while engaging with current issues and building the club for the future. Several members had questions and comments for him. After the meeting he spent an hour with the board, hearing about our club and offering guidance.

Meeting adjourned at 8:35 AM.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
